Allavelli Legal once again addresses the issue of equal pay between men and women – one of the most significant challenges in today’s European legal and social landscape.
On November 5, 2025, Federico Allavelli and Sabrina La Gorga, both experts in Employment Law, will deliver a speech on this topic within the prestigious WIPS network.

In 2024, Attorney Federico Allavelli supported the establishment of the WIPS association, created to promote the strength, competence, and determination of women in the workplace.

This initiative represents a concrete commitment to advancing gender equality and ensuring fair opportunities and equitable pay for women and men alike.

A New Approach to Pay Equity

Despite regulatory and cultural progress, gender inequality in the workplace remains a tangible issue, fueled by structural factors such as role stereotypes, occupational segregation, and unequal distribution of family responsibilities.

To address these challenges, the European Union has introduced a new Pay Transparency Directive, set to profoundly reshape the relationship between employers and employees.

The new legal framework aims to overcome three long-standing barriers:

  • the lack of transparency in pay systems;
  • the absence of legal clarity around the concept of “work of equal value”;
  • the procedural obstacles that often discourage victims of discrimination from asserting their rights.

The Directive does more than reinforce employers’ obligations; it introduces a genuine cultural transformation.

Transparency will need to be ensured from the recruitment stage, providing candidates with full awareness of the financial conditions offered.

A decisive step toward greater fairness, trust, and accountability in the European labor market.
