For several years now, the European Parliament has been observing the International day for the Elimination of Violence against Women of 25 November with a special event bringing together Members of the EP and Members of the national Parliaments from across the European Union, in order to raise awareness of this important issue.

The FEMM Committee is organising an inter-parliamentary committee meeting on “Eliminating Violence against Women” on 30 November 2021 from 09:00 to 18:45.

This year’s meeting on “Eliminating Violence against Women” will consist of four sessions which will explore the current state of affairs in policy and practice in focused areas of gender-based violence.

The first panel will be organised jointly with the Subcommittee on Human Rights and will deal with sexual violence as a weapon of war.

The second panel will deal with preventing and combating violence against women and girls with disabilities.

The third and fourth panels will be organised jointly with the Committee on Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs and deal with cyberviolence and with the Istanbul, Convention respectively.
